Songs for Halloween week!

Hello GE families,

I have had so much fun singing and dancing with your kiddos these past few weeks!  Every week, I use music and movement to reinforce the themes and concepts the children are learning in their classrooms.  This week I have lots of fun songs and games planned for Halloween!

Ms. Kimberly

Our songs this week:

“Triangle Song” (Tune: Jingle Bells)
Triangles, triangles,
Have three sides.
Triangles, triangles,
Have three sides.
You can draw triangles
In the air,
It is fun to use your hands
And make them anywhere.

“Pumpkins are Here” (Tune: The Farmer in the Dell)
The pumpkins are here, the pumpkins are there. The pumpkins, the pumpkins are everywhere.
The pumpkins are up; the pumpkins are down. The pumpkins, the pumpkins are all around.
The pumpkins are in; the pumpkins are out. The pumpkins, the pumpkins are all about.
The pumpkins are low; the pumpkins are high. The pumpkins, the pumpkins all say, "Good-bye".

“Did You Ever See a Pumpkin?” (Tune: Did You Ever See a Lassie?)
Did you ever see a pumpkin a pumpkin a pumpkin?

Did you ever see pumpkin with no face at all?

With no eyes and no nose and no mouth and no teeth?

Did you ever see a pumpkin with no face at all?

So I made a Jack-O-Lantern,
Jack-O-Lantern, Jack-O-Lantern.

So I made a Jack-O-Lantern with a big funny face.

With big eyes and a big nose and a big mouth and big teeth.
So I made a Jack-O-Lantern with a big funny face.

“Pumpkin, Pumpkin On the Ground” (Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)
Pumpkin, pumpkin on the ground.

How’d you get so big and round?

Planted as a seed so small.

Now you are a great big ball.

Pumpkin, pumpkin on the ground.

How’d you get so big and round?

“H Word Song” (Tune: Baa Baa Black Sheep)
I have an H word
Huh Huh Huh is it’s sound
You wear it on your head
What have I found? (Hat)

You can ride on his back
What have I found? (Horse)

You can live inside
What have I found? (House)

A Valentine shape
What have I found? (Heart)

It sprays water
What have I found? (Hose)

It has five fingers
What have I found? (Hand)

It’s a shape with six sides
What have I found? (Hexagon)

It grows on your head
What have I found? (Hair)

A day for trick or treating
What have I found? (Halloween)

“12 Days of Halloween” (Tune: 12 Days of Christmas)
On the first day of Halloween my mummy gave to me.... An owl in a old oak tree...
On the second day of Halloween my mummy gave to me....2 black cats...
On the third day of Halloween my mummy gave to me....3 pumpkins glowing...
On the fourth day of Halloween my mummy gave to me....4 witches smiling...
On the fifth day of Halloween my mummy gave to me....5 candy corns...
On the sixth day of Halloween my mummy gave to me....6 scary costumes...
On the seventh day of Halloween my mummy gave to me....7 bats a flying...
On the eighth day of Halloween my mummy gave to me....8 spiders webbing...
On the ninth day of Halloween my mummy gave to me....9 ghost booing...
On the tenth day of Halloween of my mummy gave to me....10 scarecrows scaring...
On the eleventh day of Halloween my mummy gave to me....11 mummies marching...
On the twelfth day of Halloween my mummy gave to me....12 skeletons dancing...

“I am a Trick or Treater” (Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle)

I am a trick or treater,
         Set to go.

         Here is my flashlight,
         I'll walk slow.

I always say thank you for my treats.

And never run across the street!
I am a trick or treater,
         Set to go.

         Here is my flashlight,
         I'll walk slow

Songs for this week, October 21, 2013

Here are the songs that the kids will be singing this week:

·       “Gray Squirrel”
Gray squirrel, gray squirrel
Shake your bushy tail.
Gray squirrel, gray squirrel
Shake your bushy tail.

Wrinkle up your little nose,
Put a nut between your toes.

Gray squirrel, gray squirrel

Shake your bushy tail.

·       “Squirrel Song” (Tune: She’ll be coming around the mountain)
I’ll be gathering all the acorns til they’re gone
I’ll be gathering all the acorns til they’re gone
I’ll be gathering all the acorns,
I’ll be gathering all the acorns,
I’ll be gathering all the acorns til they’re gone.

I will put them all inside my little home…
I will eat the nuts until the winter’s gone…
I will do it all again come next fall…

·       “I’m a Nut”
I’m a little acorn brown,
Lying on the cold cold ground
Someone came and stepped on me,
Now I’m cracked as you can see
I’m a nut
In a rut
I’m crazy!

·       “Scarecrow Song” (Tune: Teddy Bear)
Scarecrow, scarecrow turn around
Scarecrow, scarecrow jump up and down
Scarecrow, scarecrow arms up high
Scarecrow, scarecrow wink one eye
Scarecrow, scarecrow bend your knee
Scarecrow, scarecrow flap in the breeze
Scarecrow, scarecrow climb into bed
Scarecrow, scarecrow rest your head

·       “The Leaves” (Tune:  Wheels on the bus)
The leaves on the trees turn orange and red,
Orange and red,
Orange and red.
The leaves on the trees turn orange and red,
All through the town.

The leaves on the trees coming tumbling down…
The leaves on the trees go swish, swish, swish…
Your feet on the leaves go crunch, crunch, crunch…

·       “Fall Leaves” (Tune: London Bridges)
All the leaves are falling down,
Falling down, falling down
All the leaves are falling down,
It is Autumn.

As they fall they twirl around…
Lots of colors touch the ground…

·       “Ten Little Pumpkins” (Tune: Ten Little Indians)

·       “O-r-a-n-g-e”  (Tune: Ten Little Indians)
O-r-a-n-g-e,
O-r-a-n-g-e,
O-r-a-n-g-e

Orange is what that spells.

Jack-o-lanterns are always orange.

Carrots are always orange.

Oranges are always orange.

O-r-a-n-g-e

·        “G-R-A-Y” (Tune: Farmer in the Dell)
G-R-A-Y spells gray
G-R-A-Y spells gray
There you go, now you know,
G-R-A-Y spells gray.

Elephants are gray,
So is a rainy day,
There you go, now you know,
G-R-A-Y spells gray.

·       “P Word Song” (Tune: Are you sleeping?)
I’m a P word, Puh-Puh P word
Can you guess, can you guess?
I live in a castle, I live in a castle,
Who am I?  Who am I? (princess)

I’m a P word, Puh-Puh P word
Can you guess, can you guess?
I make fun shapes, I make fun shapes,
What am I?  What am I?  (play dough)
I’m a P word, Puh-Puh P word
Can you guess, can you guess?
I’m good on bread with jelly,
I’m good on bread with jelly,
What am I?  What am I? (peanut butter)

I’m a P word, Puh-Puh P word,
Can you guess, can you guess?
I’m a frozen treat, I’m a frozen treat,
What am I?  What am I?  (popscicle)

I’m a P word, Puh-Puh P word,
Can you guess, can you guess?
I’m a bird who lives in snow,
I’m a bird who lives in snow,
Who am I, who am I? (penguin)

I’m a P word, Puh-Puh P word,
Can you guess, can you guess?
My pieces make a picture,
My pieces make a picture,
What am I?  What am I? (puzzle)

I’m a P word, Puh-Puh P word,
Can you guess, can you guess?
I’m a movie snack, I’m a movie snack,
What am I?  What am I?  (popcorn)

I’m a P word, Puh-puh P word,
Can you guess, can you guess?
I’m a food covered in cheese,
I’m a food covered in cheese,
What am I, what am I? (pizza)

·       “Make A Circle” (Tune: Pop Goes the Weasel)
Round and round on the paper I go,
What fun to go around like so,
What have I made, do you know?
I made a circle!

·       “The Rolling Circle Song” (Tune: Have You Ever Seen A Lassie?)
Have you ever seen a circle, a circle, a circle?
Have you ever seen a circle, which goes round and round?
It rolls this way and that way, and that way and this way.
Have you ever seen a circle, which goes round and round?

·       “Ring Around the Pumpkin” (Tune: Ring Around the Rosie)
Ring around the Pumpkin,
Pocket full of nuts,
Leaves, leaves,
They all fall down.
March around the pumpkin,
pocket full of nuts,
leaves, leaves,
they all fall down.
Stomp around the pumpkin,
pocket full of nuts,
leaves, leaves,
they all fall down.
Tip-toe around the pumpkin,
pocket full of nuts,
leaves, leaves,
they all fall down.
Jump around the pumpkin,
pocket full of nuts,
leaves, leaves,
they all fall down.
